21-year-old social media activist, Aima Warriach, is using her art to fight what she calls is a blatant attack on Muslim women’s human rights.
Apart from posting art on Instagram, Warriach is also part of a community magazine called Muslim Girl and The Canadian Council of Muslim Women. “We discuss issues like reclaiming one’s autonomy. Cause, even if we don’t wear the hijab or the Niqab, because we are female we still face stereotypes and barriers to participate in society.”
And when it comes to Legault’s argument about how the ban would help people integrate into society, Warriach said, “If they do have these types of laws put in place, it’s just going to isolate Muslim women further. We won’t be able to integrate within society or within the workplace without compromising our religion.
