70,000 more Americans could die from Covid-19 before January

While U.S President-elect Joe Biden is scheduled to take the highest office of the land on January 20th, a new calculation by Reuters shows that 70,000 more Americans could die before inauguration day.

In addition to the surge in deaths, cases are projected to increase by more than 8 million.

Experts told Reuters that the only way to change the trajectory is for President Trump or the states to alter their strategy in tackling the virus by introducing stricter coordinated measures.

“The epidemic is going to be worse than it was in the spring, and worse than it was for the everyday American,” said Gregg Gonsalves, a professor in epidemiology at Yale University, said.
