A Swedish court has ordered the American rapper, ASAP Rocky, to pay for damages caused to a 19-year-old refugee following an altercation in June.
The incident took place in Stockholm Sweden, before the two-time Grammy nominee's show at Smash x Stadion hip-hop festival. ASAP, also known as Rakim Mayers, was walking around the streets of Stockholm when he claimed to notice two boys following him and his crew.
The rapper posted a video of himself on his Instagram, telling the boys to leave his team alone before things got out of hand. The boys are shown on video ignoring Rocky's request and instead began to argue with Rocky's bodyguard, claiming he stole their headphones.
Moments after the verbal exchange, a fight broke out. Now a Swedish Judge says Rocky's crew violated the boy's integrity by causing physical pain and suffering after the rapper and his crew continued to beat the teenagers while they laid defenseless on the ground.
"The artist also threw the victim to the ground and stepped on his arm", the court said.
Rocky and his crew already spent three months behind bars prior to today's verdict. He was released, in part because of Kanye and President Trump's involvement in the case, on August the 2nd --and has since returned to the U.S.
Today's guilty verdict doesn't mean more jail time for the 30-year-old rapper or his crew. The rapper will instead receive a conditional sentence. Meaning, Rocky and his crew must avoid committing a crime in Sweden for the next two years to receive a permanent pardon.
