The driver of the OC Transpo double decker bus that crashed into a bus shelter west of downtown Ottawa in January has been charged with three charges of dangerous driving causing death and 35 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Aissatou Diallo ,42, had been working for OC Transpo for less than a year and had already been in a collision with another bus in 2018. On the day of the crash police ruled out impaired driving and she was released without charges. She turned herself into Ottawa police today.

In an email sent out after a press conference the Ottawa police said that the multiple charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm are to cover people who suffered physical and psychological injuries.

Police say the investigation is "very complex." OC Transpo has been cleared of criminal wrong doing in the crash and will not be charged.

Diallo is expected to appear in court on September 17.
