Canada is celebrating its 152nd birthday this weekend. Earlier this month, Premier Doug Ford's government cancelled the traditional celebration at Queen's Park. Good news today though as the Canada Day party on the front lawn of Queens Park is back on, courtesy of the Liberals. They decided to call it a people's picnic; it will happen between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday July 1st with a DJ and free ice cream. People are encouraged to bring blankets and their own picnic baskets and enjoying more toned-down version of the yearly celebration.

If you want to try something different for Canada Day you could always go to Toronto's Ribfest. It will be running all of Canada Day weekend, including Monday at Etobicoke Centennial Park. On Canada Day there will be special performers, free face painting, magic shows and a fireworks display at sundown. There will be fireworks at several other locations in the GTA on Canada Day, some of them include:

· Amesberry Park at 9:45 p.m.

· Ashbridge's Bay Dash Woodbine Park at 10 p.m.

· Centennial Park at 10 p.m.

· Milliken Park at 10 p.m.

· Mel Lastman square at 10:30 p.m.

· Stan Wilder park at 10 p.m.

· Weston Lions Park at 10 p.m.

· Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan at 10 p.m.

If fireworks are not your thing, you could always celebrate Canada Day with one of Toronto's favorite teams. The Toronto Blue Jays will be playing on Monday July 1st against the Kansas City Royals. If you are going to the game there will be pregame ceremonies that will pay tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces. The Rogers Centre will also be giving away a Blue Jays relaxed denim hat to the first 15,000 fans that enter the park.

For a unique experience on Canada Day, you could go back to the past and celebrate Canada's birthday like it is 1867. Black Creek Pioneer Village is offering free admission on July 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their celebrations will include many exhibits in the village, history bites presentations on hot topics of the day and a citizenship ceremony where 40 new Canadians will receive their citizenship at Pioneer Villages' Event Pavilion. It does cost $7 per vehicle to park there or you could just take the subway. TTC will be running their holiday hours on Monday, check their website for more details.
