Ford government tries to profit over "threats" made to PC MPPs

This is the picture that shocked members of Ontario's Legislature to the core

Protesters standing outside of Queens Park

The picture was taken last Wednesday during a protest at Queens Park, against the Ford government's cuts to programs like Toronto Public Health, and education.

The PC's were quick to condemn the picture, and even labeled it as a direct threat to the Premier's life. Ford and his ministers went as far as accusing the NDP of supporting the masked protesters who brought the guillotine.

The NDP denied the allegation and called the act inappropriate.

But today the Minister of Social Services, Lisa MacLeod, took the PC's disdain of the act and turned it into a fundraiser. Minister MacLeod sent out an email to her colleagues saying "show your support for Doug by pitching in a $1 donation. "

NDP leader Andrea Horwath was quick to pounce on the Minister's email.

“You can’t, on the one hand, say these things are odious and then use them for your own fundraising purposes.”

The Liberals also took aim at the Minister for her email.

"The minister of children and community services feigns outrage and then on the next day repeats the same thing and asks people for money. I can’t take her seriously. It’s a joke.” --Liberal Leader John Fraser.

The PC's asked the OPP( Ontario Provincial Police) to investigate the incidents last week. But the OPP refused to do so, arguing that the case was way out of their jurisdiction. So now, Toronto Police have taken over the investigation.

No charges or suspects have been named. In fact, the investigation is still on hold-- because no one, apart from the Conservative government, has complained about the guillotine.
