It all started with two pit bulls mauling a 27-year-old man, then led to an accidental death by crossbow.

Police say the good Samaritan heard a commotion outside his home, stepped out, and saw two pit bulls attacking his neighbour who police have now identified as Joshua Jadusingh.

The good Samaritan went back in, grabbed a crossbow, and fired at one of the pit bulls. The bow pierced through the dog and penetrated the door of the apartment Jadusingh went to hide behind.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 12:09 p.m. Responding officers neutralized the two animals after both dogs turned to attack them.

Berkshire's District Attorney's Office says both dogs have a long history of "being aggressive." In 2018, the pit bulls attacked their owners.

District Attorney Andrea Harrington says the incident is being investigated as an accidental death, and at this moment, does not plan on filing any criminal charges against the good Samaritan.
