Earlier this morning, South Korean time, South Korean officials reported a sighting of what appeared to be short-range ballistic missiles fired into the East Sea by their Northern neighbors.
According to South Korea's military, North Korea fired two missiles--this despite a previous agreement with the Trump Administration to halt all missile tests while de-nuclearization talks continued.
North Korea's foreign affairs ministry said in a statement that the tests were in response to renewed joint military drills by the U.S and its Southern neighbours, as well as South Korea's latest acquirement of the F-35A stealth jet, and the nuclear submarine the U.S deployed on the Korean Peninsula.
South Korea's military says the missiles were launched at 5:24 am in South Hwanghae Province.
North Korea says it's still open to discussions over the South's request for Pyongyang to denuclearize, as long as the South stops its military drills and economic sanctions are lifted.
