Police say the driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. Two passengers, one 14 years of age and the other 16 years-old, were taken to hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries.

Roads were wet last night and clearly there was some speed involved. If you look at the vehicle involved there is no way to discount that. It is a tragic circumstance,” Sgt. Alex Crews

The driver’s cousin told police that the car was most likely taken without parental permission.

Fire fighters had to use a special claw to rescue the boys. Neither of the boys parents have commented on the incident.

Police have identified the victim as Hanzala Tariq. Tariq’s uncle had this to say about the crash—"“he was too young… all our family is broken.”

Police are now trying to determine what kind of drivers license Tariq had. Giving Tariq’s age, police suspect he only had a G1 permit which then prohibit him from driving from midnight to 5 am, and without a being accompanied by a driver with at least four years of experience.

“Kids these days, they want to show off and drive too fast. It is really bad. His family is heartbroken, it is really hard for them,” Mohammad Muzamil, Tariq’s cousin, told the media.

Police are still investigating the incident.
