Polish police arrested three men in Pomerania, Poland, for smuggling in three tonnes of cocaine originated from Ecuador.
The drugs were discovered in frozen pineapple pulps. According to Polish authorities, the smuggled contraband has a street value of approximately $760.9 million, that’s 3 billion Polish zlotys.
Authorities believe the drugs were first transported from Ecuador to Hamburg, Germany, before making their way, by road, to a warehouse in northern Poland.
The three suspects have been identified as men in their late 60s and early 70s.
Latin American drug lords have continued smuggling in drugs to Europe despite ongoing travel restrictions introduced to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
