The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty made this their theme for the night as they protested against a luxury pop-up restaurant.

The gourmet dining experience was set up under heated domes under the Gardiner Expressway. Past “Top Chef Canada” winner Rene Rodriguez was the chef of the three-course meal.

This was all taking place only two kilometres from where a homeless camp was uprooted.

Poverty activists flooded the space, commenting on the insensitvity of the event. They made it their prerogative to be a full disturbance for those who are in attendance: making noise with drums, tearing down partitions, greeting guests as they appeared at he entrance with line of “boo’s”.

Each person is paying approximately $249.98 for meal and accommodation.

The activists mocked the pompous eating’s with their own free three course meal.

Dispite the protests, persons were still able to enjoy themselves the days following:

Dinner organizers say the event takes place on charity run property, not owed by the City of Toronto.

The “Dinner With a View” event runs until May 2. The next “Dinner With a View” event is set for Montreal, April 16 to May 18.
