Pride Month comes to an end with weekend celebrations

As we come to the end of June, Pride month also comes to an end and with that the annual Pride Parade. There will be Pride related festivities all weekend long. Starting with today's Trans Pride March, which will be happening between 7:00pm and 9:30pm. This march route will start at the intersection of Church St. and Hayden and will end at Allen Gardens.

There will be three Pride events on Saturday. The Pride and Remeberence Run and the Dyke March. The run will start at 10:00am and will close down the roads along the route between 8:30 am and noon from Wellesley Street East between Jarvis Street and Queen's Park Crescent East, and Queen's Park Crescent West between College Street and Bloor Street West. The march will happen between noon and 6:00pm, along the same route as the Trans Pride march. The Run is currently sold out according to the Pride Run Toronto website. There will also be Family Pride which will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Church Street Public School from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Sunday will be the annual Pride Parade it will start at 2:00pm and is expected to last until about 7:00pm. Toronto police say there will be intermittent road closures between noon and 7:00pm to accommodate the parade. It will travel from Church Street and Bloor Street East, proceed west on Bloor Street East, south on Yonge Street and east on Dundas Street East to Victoria Street.


Public transit will be disrupted for the festivities. TTC's Dundas Streetcar route will be out of service on Sunday. Remember to check your route before you leave.
