Ahead of the Raptors' game 1 against the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Mayor John Tory and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf have issued a challenge to the fans.
It's being called the "charity challenge" Tory is asking Raptors fans to donate to SickKids Children's Hospital with a goal of $10,000 to help build a new facility. So far fans have raised over $6,000.
Schaaf is asking Warrior fans to donate to Alameda County Community Food Bank and San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
There was a second bet between the two mayor's. Different gifts will be exchanged depending on who wins the NBA finals. If the Warriors win Tory will send a case of Henderson beer, a peameal bacon sandwich, some Tim Hortons coffee and some Toronto-centric apparel from the Spacing store to Schaff.
Should the Raptors come out victorious Schaff will send Tory some of Oaklands local beer, coffee and barbecue sauce.
