The RCMP have confirmed that the two bodies found in northern Manitoba last week are of the homicide suspects Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod.
The bodies were found earlier on Wednesday, and went through an autopsy to confirm that the bodies do belong to the men.
Officers were not able to confirm the identities until the autopsies were completed by the Manitoba medical examiner.
Reports suggest both young men were dead for several days before their found, however the exact time of death is unknown.
Investigators received over 1,000 tips during their search. At the end of July[, a damaged boat was discovered along Manitoba’s Nelson River with several personal items linked to the fugitives--leading to the discovery of the bodies one kilometre away from where the items were located.
Police found two firearms near the suspect's lifeless bodies. Forensic analysis is still trying to confirm whether the two weapons found are connected to the homicide investigations.
