Saudi Arabia says it has arrested ten people and seized a stockpile of weapons and explosives handed to a group of fighters Saudi is describing as a “terrorist cell” trained by Iran.
Saudi forces say three of the ten individuals directly “received military and field training, including on how to make explosives, inside Revolutionary Guards sites in Iran” back in 2017. The other seven are believed to have indirect connections with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Among the items seized are improvised explosive devices, dozens of stun guns, kilos of gunpowder, rifles, and pistols.
Iran has denied both allegations of training and equipping the said ten individuals, calling the entire account a “complete fabrication.”
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the Saudi kingdom to “choose a path of honesty and wisdom.”
Meanwhile, Saudi authorities said they’ll be putting their top investigators to probe into what the 10 arrested “terrorist cell” members were up too and their list of domestic and foreign contacts.
