Seneca has teamed up with the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival (TDJ) to tell multimedia stories prior to and during the actual festival which runs this summer from June 21-30, 2019. It's attracting big names such as Diana Ross and Norah Jones. The Summer Institute (SI) students got to meet the Artistic Director, Josh Grossman today to talk about their upcoming roles. He says that "it's all very exciting!" See the video below for his full response.

Seneca Journalism professor Barbara Caines, who created the Summer Institute of Multiplatform Journalism 18 years ago, came up with the idea. According to Professor Caines she contacted Grossman to see if he was interested in getting the students involved in the form of an internship "where we would do profiles, interviews, podcasts, multimedia stories, ENG’s, etc. for their website and ours during last year’s festival. He agreed and it was a smash hit for them and our students’ portfolios. Our Summer Institute students did such an amazing job Josh agreed to offer full internships to our students again this summer. You can’t beat this kind of hands-on experience and professional exposure!”

Check out what a couple of the Summer Institute students think of this amazing opportunity.
