Subway service between Osgoode and Bloor-Yonge station were temporarily suspended earlier this afternoon after there was a report of visible smoke at track level.
It was later revealed that the cause of the incident was a power cut.
The investigation took place around St. Andrew station, where Police said there were 54 people on the train at the time of the incident.
With the help of Firefighters, passengers evacuated the train by walking along the tracks, about 300 metres to Union Station.
According to TTC spokesperson, Stuart Green, there were 29 to 30 shuttle busses operating while the issue was being resolved.
Shuttle buses were in effect, as well as the GO protocol, which means that people could use GO services out of Union Station on a TTC fair. Streetcars weren't affected by the incident.
Trains were back to regular schedule just after 5 pm, just in time for rush hour traffic and for people travelling to Jurassic Park to watch the Raptors game.
No injuries have been reported.
