Three U.S. senators to introduce four motions to block Trump's arms sale

The Trump administration is on the verge of fulfilling its $23 billion arms sale to the UAE, but three members of the Senate say the way the president went about the deal is wrong.

Democratic Senators Bob Mendez and Chris Murphy and Republican Senator Rand Paul said they'll introduce four separate resolutions of disapproval over President Trump's arms deal.

The president wants to sell military equipment such as Reaper drones, an F-35 fighter aircraft--the world's most advanced fighter jet, air-to-air missiles, 14,000 bombs, and munitions, to the UAE.

The arrangement is not out of the ordinary. Saudi Arabia buys most of its military equipment from the U.S. The issue at hand is how the president went about this deal.

The three senators say the Trump administration went around the normal congressional review process. So before the agreement moves any further, the out-going administration will have to answer to Congress as to how they would deal with national security risks surrounding the proposed sale.
