The club hosted a party attended by more than 100 people on June 26th. The AGCO says it has suspended Goldie’s licence while it begins the revocation process.
Toronto police laid charges against the club, located near King and Portland streets in the Fashion District, on Tuesday.
The indoor party did not take any social distancing measures, and according to the police, around 125 to 150 people were spotted inside the nightclub.
The club does not have a permit for outdoor service or an outdoor patio or seating area. The police said the club was letting patrons in through the rear door.
Goldie’s Management, in a statement to CBC News on Thursday, said the club is cooperating with the authorities on the ongoing investigation.
“It is important for us to support and assist them in their efforts. We are also conducting our own internal investigation to understand what took place on June 26, 2020, at our establishment and, where necessary, will be holding people accountable for their actions. We do not condone any events that flout the law and stand behind the city's efforts to keep our communities safe.”
Ontario Premier Doug Ford said on Friday, “All it takes is just one person in that bar out of 150, gives it to another, gives it to another, and it’s just rapid-fire.”
Bars and restaurants are currently only allowed to serve in outdoor settings with social distancing to keep the spread of COVID-19 to a minimum.
The owner, manager, and corporation will be charged with failure to comply with an order made during a state emergency.
