Trump and Pelosi salty at State of Union

Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill gathered for the annual State of the Union address, last night, on the eve of President Trump's final impeachment vote.

From the get-go, the speech started with drama when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced President Donald J. Trump to Congress by simply saying "Members of Congress, the President of the United States" instead of the traditional "high privilege and distinct honour" that usually accompanies a president's introduction.

Trump then took the podium and handed Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Pelosi copies of his remarks and refused to shake Pelosi's hand in the process.

When the speech ended, Pelosi got up and tore her copy of the president's speech, later telling reporters it was "the courteous thing to do, considering the alternative."

Despite the heated debate on whether to impeach Trump for allegedly bribing Ukraine to investigate his political rivals in exchange for foreign aid, impeachment was never mentioned during the speech.

Today the Senate will hold what's expected to be the final vote in Trump's impeachment trial. Democrats have charged the president with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The Republican-controlled Senate is expected to acquit Trump of those charges when voting begins at 4 p.m EST.
