Trump concedes election defeat

U.S President Donald Trump released this video last night acknowledging his election defeat without bluntly saying he lost.

The president called for peace, unity, and for all Americans to rally behind the "new administration." Trump, however, fell short of actually uttering President-elect Joe Biden's name.

This is Trump's first Twitter post since his 12hr suspension from the platform. He's accused of using social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to ratchet up his baseless claims of election fraud and rallying supporters to storm Congress. Five people, including a Capitol Hill police officer, died as a result of Wednesday's riots.

“We believe the risks of allowing President Trump to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great, so we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post.

The coup like scenes sparked a series of backlash against the president, even from staunch Trump supporters like Rep. Senator Lindsey Graham.

And inside Trump's safe haven, the White House, an exodus is taking place, with eleven high profile officials already jumping ship with barely two weeks left until inauguration day.

A state-run Chinese tabloid called the People's Daily even weighed in on the unfolding events, describing them as "an internal collapse."
