As of Tuesday, Zimbabwe's government said public gatherings of any kind will be restricted to 100.

Prior to the new messures, a limit on gatherings was last in place two months ago. But a spike in daily infections from 25 to 100 forced the government to toughen its public health guidelines.

Although Zimbabwe has recorded 10,129 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 277 related deaths since the pandemic hit the impoverished nation, the southern African country has tried to maintain a balance between managing its already crippling economy and enforcing public health guidelines such as partial shutdowns to limit gatherings and wearing masks.
